Artist Statement

Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The United States of America was built on rebellion and military strength. Violence is used to protect freedom, even though itself is a system of control. As Americans we must understand that all our wealth is predicated by war. Our strength as a nation is our creativity, and innovation but the U.S. dollar is protected by its country’s ability to tax its citizens and insured by its ability to induce violence. The American Dream in theory is a story of class mobility but by definition it is a fantasy. This collection reflects the experience of an American trying to fall asleep, the problem is he’s not tired yet.
